Aso Rock has no openings, Edo governor asserts, even if kidnappers seize every single one of us.

Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has issued a stern warning to those fueling insecurity in the country, urging them to cease their actions and allow the presidency to concentrate on governance.

This call was made by Okpebholo on Tuesday in Benin during the launch of the All Progressives Congress campaign for local government council elections in the Edo South Senatorial District.

Okpebholo alleged that the recent surge in insecurity was a deliberate attempt to tarnish the leadership of President Bola Tinubu, emphasizing that promoting insecurity would not guarantee the perpetrators seats in the Senate, House of Representatives, or the presidency.

He stressed that there is no vacancy in Aso Rock, and even if the perpetrators were to kidnap all the leaders, the presidency would remain unaffected, as "there is no vacancy in Aso Rock."

Okpebholo accused the opposition of orchestrating the insecurity, stating that their actions would ultimately be futile, as "what is happening today is the handiwork of the opposition" and that they have failed in their attempts to destabilize the government.

He questioned the logic of the opposition's actions, asking "is it by kidnapping children? Then who are you going to govern? There will be nobody for you to govern," and urged them to allow the government to rule effectively.

The governor reiterated that President Tinubu has achieved more for the country than his predecessors, citing the positive impact of the fuel subsidy removal, which has been evident in various projects across the state.

Okpebholo commended the candidates who emerged from the party's primary election and expressed confidence that their victories would pave the way for the APC to deliver the 2.5 million votes pledged to President Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.

Party chairman Jarrett Tenebe described the APC as the only viable party in the state and urged the candidates to take the message of the governor's developmental strides to the people and replicate it in their local government areas.

The event's highlight was the official unveiling of the Edo South candidates by the governor, including Ogbeide Ihama for the Senate, Dr Paddy Iyamu for the Oredo federal constituency, and Omorede Igbinedion for the Ovia federal constituency, among others.
