The Nigerian Army's 1 Division Headquarters has announced plans to carry out its inaugural bi-annual range classification exercise for 2026, scheduled to take place from March 23 to 27 at the Nigerian Air Force Base Shooting Range in Mando, Kaduna.
This development was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday in Kaduna by Lt-Col. Ajemusu Jingina, the Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for 1 Division.
The primary objective of the exercise is to sharpen the marksmanship skills of officers and soldiers, while also evaluating the condition of their firearms, according to the statement.
In light of the impending exercise, the 1 Division has urged residents of the NAF Base in Mando and surrounding communities to remain calm upon hearing gunfire or witnessing the movement of troops and equipment between March 23 and 27.
The public has been advised to keep a safe distance from the range area for the duration of the exercise, which spans five days, in order to ensure their safety and well-being.
The 1 Division has expressed its gratitude to the public for their ongoing cooperation and understanding, as it works to enhance the combat readiness of its personnel.
