Armed assailants ambush Amaechi's motorcade following arson attack on ADC headquarters in Rivers state

Amaechi has called on security forces to identify and apprehend the arsonists responsible for burning down the African Democratic Party office, following the successful completion of his e-registration as a party member.

On Friday, armed men, believed to be political thugs, engaged in a fierce gun battle with the convoy of Chibuike Amaechi, the leader of the African Democratic Party in the South-South, as he traveled through the Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The attack occurred between Ubima, Amaechi's community, and Omuanwa, where the former governor's convoy was intercepted by the gunmen, who had set up a roadblock to prevent buses carrying ADC members from attending the event.

Prior to the ambush, suspected thugs had set fire to the ADC ward office in Ubima, Amaechi's hometown, on Thursday night, and had also shot at his family house gate, riddling it with bullets.

However, when Amaechi's convoy arrived, security personnel accompanying him engaged the armed thugs, who eventually fled into the bushes after being outgunned.

Amaechi addressed hundreds of party members present at the e-registration exercise, urging them to remain calm and calling on the police to investigate and prosecute those responsible for the violence.

He expressed gratitude to the Commissioner of Police, the Director of DSS, and the Commandant of NSCDC for their prompt intervention, praising their professionalism in responding to the situation.

Amaechi emphasized that the task of addressing the violence lies with the police, and he encouraged party members to focus on peaceful mobilization, with the ultimate goal of capturing the presidency.

He also appealed to the state governor to ensure adequate security measures are in place throughout the state to prevent chaos and anarchy.

Amaechi reflected on his experience as a former governor, stating that he understands the importance of protecting citizens' lives and the consequences of failing to do so.

He emphasized the need for party members to remain calm and peaceful, as their goal is to reach Aso Rock, and encouraged them to register en masse to surprise their opponents on election day.

Amaechi concluded by highlighting the importance of collective action, stating that the party must work together to bring about change and address the issues of hunger and corruption affecting the nation.
