Armed assailants allegedly raid Ogbomoso immigration facility, making off with guns

A brazen attack on the Nigeria Immigration Service office in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, was carried out by suspected gunmen on Tuesday night, with the assailants making off with firearms belonging to officers who were on duty at the time.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:00 p.m. at the immigration office, which is situated along the Ogbomoso–Ilorin Motorway, near the NNPC filling station, an area where commercial activities were still underway at the nearby Ayanyan Cattle Market.

According to sources, the attackers stormed the facility, overpowering the officers on duty and dispossessing them of their firearms, although the exact number of weapons taken has not been confirmed.

The attackers took advantage of the darkness to flee the scene, leaving the officers to deal with the aftermath of the incident.

When reached for confirmation, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Oyo State Police Command, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, stated that he had not yet received an official briefing on the incident, saying "I have not been briefed on the incident at this time.

DSP Olayinka Ayanlade added that he would provide updates as soon as the necessary information becomes available, indicating that the police were still in the process of gathering information about the attack.
