Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra has described the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) as a visa through which many Igbo politicians rode to stardom.

He said that it is unfortunate that some of the same politicians who used the APGA visa to rise to stardom had lost focus and crossed the carpet to other mushroom political parties and are now jumping up and down with a wishful thinking that APGA is no longer relevant in the scheme of affairs.

Soludo, who spoke at Ekwusigo Local Government Headquarters, Ozubulu, on Saturday shortly after commissioning some projects executed by the outgoing Chairman of the council, Hon. Chinezie Obi, said another disturbing issue with Ndigbo is that they always put all their eggs in one basket and thereafter begin to complain that they are being marginalised at the federal level.

He noted that now that Ndigbo should be finding a way to reconnect the federal government at the centre to get their due share by returning President Ahmed Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to power, some selfish Igbo politicians are busy trying to deceive their followers into believing that another political party will outwit APC and APGA to take over the helm of affairs in the forthcoming 2027 presidential and national assembly elections.

He disclosed that the position of APGA which is the major political party for Anambra state is that APGA which has the mantra of Progressives working together, will support APC to clinch the presidential seat and then clear all the national and state assembly seats in Anambra state, just as it cleared the recently concluded local government chairmanship and councillorship seats in the state.

He commended the outgoing Chairman of Ekwusigo Local Government Area, Hon. Obi, for his prudent management of resources and execution of many capital development projects, such as roads, CCTV cameras and skill acquisition centres for our students in the area, contrary to the allusions that local governments have no funds to execute capital projects.

The governor, who pledged to reward Obi abundantly for his good works shortly after he stepped down as council boss, expressed optimism that the incoming mayor of the council, Hon. Ifeanyi Onuchukwu, would surpass Obi’s laudable achievements during his own tenure.

Earlier, Obi had commended Soludo for his leadership qualities so far and explained that he had leveraged the Governor’s good works to execute the projects, adding, “What you saw here today is a testament to my vision.”

The incoming mayor, Onuchukwu, said he had already drawn up his action plans to move into action as soon as he is sworn in, in line with his manifesto.

Highlights of the event included the bestowal of Community Service Awards to both Obi, the outgoing mayor, and Onuchukwu, the incoming mayor, by the Anambra State Town Union Council (ASTUC), Youth Wing led by its President-General, Hon. Ken Okoli.
