APC wins Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency bye-election

The All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate, Engr. Usman Maijama’a Kallamu, has won the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency bye-election held on Saturday, September 19, 2026.

Kallamu polled 41,121 votes to defeat candidates of the other political parties that contested the election.

The bye-election was conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to fill the vacant seat in the House of Representatives following the death of the former member representing the constituency, Hon. Yaya Bauchi Tongo.

According to the results announced by INEC, 47,301 votes were cast, out of which 46,551 were declared valid, while 750 votes were rejected.

The results showed that the APC secured 41,121 votes, followed by the Labour Party, LP, with 3,553 votes.

The Allied Peoples Movement, APM, polled 872 votes, while the New Nigeria Democratic Party, NDP, secured 707 votes.

With the highest number of votes, Kallamu was declared winner of the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency bye-election.

The election was conducted across 903 polling units in 31 Registration Areas covering Gombe, Kwami and Funakaye Local Government Areas.

The INEC results portal lists 903 polling units for the constituency and contains the polling-unit result sheets uploaded for the bye-election.

The outcome concludes the electoral process to fill the vacant federal constituency seat in the House of Representatives.
