APC WARD EXECUTIVES DESERVE BETTER, NOT INSULTING STIPENDSrnrnThe proposed payment of ₦5,000, ₦6,000, and ₦8,000 as stipends to Ward Executives is a huge insult to dedicated party members and grassroots leaders who work tirelessly for the growth and success of the party.rnrnWard executives are the foundation and backbone of every political party. They mobilize support, coordinate party activities at the grassroots, and remain committed during both election and non-election periods. Such sacrifices deserve recognition, dignity, and fair compensation.rnrnI am patiently waiting for the payment to be effected before publicly addressing this issue and drawing the attention of the Governor and other relevant stakeholders to the concerns of ward executives across the state.rnrnIf such inadequate stipends were paid to executives while in another political party, that practice should not be imported into the APC. From my findings, several APC-controlled states provide significantly better allowances to their ward executives. Reports indicate that in some states, ward chairmen receive up to ₦150,000, vice chairmen ₦130,000, and secretaries ₦120,000. It is therefore disturbing that Bayelsa ward chairmen are reportedly being considered for as little as ₦40,000.rnrnThe question remains: Why must Bayelsa always be different when it comes to the welfare of party faithful and grassroots workers? The era of suffering in silence while others enjoy the benefits of our collective efforts must come to an end.rnrnParty loyalty should not be rewarded with hardship.
