Anambra Patriots claims the rising support of a particular party is causing the group unease

The Anambra Patriots, a group focused on promoting good governance and accountability, remains unwavering in its commitment to endorsing candidates based on merit, regardless of their political affiliations, as stated by the organisation.

According to Chairman and President of the Anambra Country Club, Chief Ejiamatu Damian Enekwechi, the group's primary objective is to evaluate aspirants seeking elective office and encourage its members to support the most qualified candidates, without aligning with any particular political party.

Chief Ejiamatu Damian Enekwechi made these remarks while speaking with journalists at a reception held to honour members recently appointed by Governor Chukwuma Soludo into key positions in the Anambra State Government.

The group, which has members across the 21 local government areas of the state, plans to support candidates in the 2027 general election who it believes will serve the interests of Anambra and Nigeria, as stated by Enekwechi.

Enekwechi described Anambra Patriots as a body of accomplished professionals dedicated to the development of Anambra State and the country, driven by a shared commitment to excellence.

Those honoured at the event in Awka included the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Architect Okechukwu Ezeobi; the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra State ICT Agency, Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata; and Enekwechi, who was recently elected President of the Anambra Country Club.

Igwe Sir Ben Emeka, the traditional ruler of Umueri, who chaired the occasion, praised the appointments as a recognition of competence, integrity, and dedicated service, highlighting the importance of merit-based leadership.

He commended Governor Soludo for recognising the wealth of talent within Anambra Patriots, stating that hard work, competence, and commitment to service will always attract recognition, and urged the honourees to remain focused and continue setting high standards of excellence in public service.

The honourees received symbolic gifts, including acrylic portrait frames, from the Anambra Patriots Coordinators Forum, which acknowledged their appointments as a well-deserved recognition of competence and exceptional performance in previous public assignments.

Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Architect Okechukwu Ezeobi, expressed gratitude to God for his journey in public service, attributing his success to perseverance, hard work, and divine grace, while thanking Governor Soludo for the confidence reposed in him.

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra State ICT Agency, Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata, reaffirmed the agency's commitment to expanding the use of technology to improve governance and public service delivery across the state.

The honourees thanked members of Anambra Patriots for the recognition and pledged to continue supporting the Soludo administration through transparent, accountable, and impactful service, contributing to the state's development in areas including digital transformation, ICT, infrastructure, leisure, recreation, and professional networking.
