Amorim’s AC Milan come from behind to beat Man United 4-2 as Chukwueze shines

Man United suffered a disappointing 4-2 defeat to AC Milan in Poland as Ruben Amorim’s side surrendered the lead twice before the Italian giants completed a second-half comeback.

The result made for a difficult meeting between United and their former manager Amorim, who is now in charge of Milan.

United made a flying start when Harry Maguire opened the scoring in the second minute, heading home from Bruno Fernandes’ corner.

Amad Diallo almost doubled the advantage shortly afterwards, but Milan gradually grew into the contest.

United goalkeeper Senne Lammens produced an important save to deny Ruben Loftus-Cheek before Milan eventually found an equaliser in the 37th minute.

Goncalo Ramos created the opening for Samuel Chukwueze, who finished from close range to make it 1-1.

United had an opportunity to restore their lead before half-time when they were awarded a penalty, but Fernandes saw his effort saved.

Patrick Dorgu put United back in front six minutes after the restart after taking advantage of a poor back-pass from Filippo Terracciano.

However, Milan responded quickly again.

Alphadjo Cisse levelled in the 57th minute after Chukwueze created problems down the right and delivered for his teammate to score at the far post.

Chukwueze was at the heart of Milan’s comeback once again four minutes later, setting up Ramos to head the visitors in front for the first time.

Milan then exposed United’s right side again, with Loftus-Cheek racing through before making it 4-2 in the 71st minute.

United’s attempts to change the game through their substitutes failed to produce a response as Milan held on for an impressive comeback victory.

The match also provided an opportunity for several United players to return to action.

Lisandro Martinez was gradually reintroduced following his World Cup involvement, while Kobbie Mainoo also made his return.

Marcus Rashford came off the bench to make his first appearance for Manchester United in 20 months.

With the new Premier League season approaching, United will have plenty to assess after allowing Milan to overturn a two-goal advantage and expose weaknesses at the back.
