American forces claim to have successfully repelled Iranian missile and drone assaults in the Gulf region

This incident occurred as Lebanon's army reported that one of its soldiers was among two people killed in an Israeli strike in the country's south, despite a ceasefire in the Israel-Hezbollah war.

The US military announced on Tuesday that it had successfully repelled a series of Iranian missile and drone attacks in the Gulf, and subsequently conducted self-defense strikes on Iran's Qeshm Island.

US Central Command denied claims made by Iran's Revolutionary Guards, stating that they had not struck the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain or a separate air base in the region.

According to Centcom, "Iran launched several ballistic missiles toward regional neighbors; however, all failed to hit their intended targets," with two Iranian missiles fired at Kuwait falling short or breaking apart en route.

Additionally, three missiles launched at Bahrain were immediately intercepted by US and Bahrain air defense forces, as stated by Centcom.

Kuwait's military reported that its air defenses were intercepting "hostile" missile and drone attacks, while Centcom later announced that an "additional wave of Iranian drones attempting to attack US forces in Kuwait failed to impact intended targets," with several drones shot down.

The US military also shot down three attack drones that had been launched by Iran "toward civilian mariners that were rightfully transiting regional waters," as stated by Centcom.

Qeshm Island, located in the strategic Strait of Hormuz, was the target of US strikes, which Centcom said had targeted an "Iranian military ground control station" on the island, resulting in no injuries to US personnel.

The Revolutionary Guards claimed they had struck US military installations in response to the strike on Qeshm Island, but Centcom disputed this, stating "FALSE" and "All Iranian attacks on American forces failed."

A ceasefire has been in place between the United States and Iran since April 8, but subsequent talks to establish a more permanent end to the conflict have so far been unsuccessful.

Tehran warned on Monday that Israel's expanding campaign in Lebanon risked ending the US-Iran ceasefire, as US forces had previously fired a missile at a ship attempting to sail toward an Iranian port in violation of an American blockade, disabling the vessel.

Washington has now forcibly halted six ships it said were attempting to violate the blockade, which has been in place since April 13.
