ALGON hands over 30 functioning cars to boost safety efforts in Osun

The Association of Local Government of Nigeria, ALGON, in Osun State has bolstered security operations across the state with the donation of 30 patrol vehicles to various security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, and Nigeria Immigration Service.

This donation is a significant move to enhance security in the state, and among the beneficiaries are key agencies that play a crucial role in maintaining law and order in Osun State.

ALGON chairman in Osun, Mr Samuel Idowu, emphasized that the donation underscores the organization's commitment to the security and well-being of the state's residents, made possible by the autonomy granted to local governments by the President Bola Tinubu administration.

According to Mr Idowu, the provision of these vehicles demonstrates the effectiveness of local government autonomy in addressing security challenges, and he affirmed that local governments are best positioned to understand and address the unique security needs of their communities.

The donation of patrol vehicles is part of a broader effort to support security agencies, with Mr Idowu announcing that a total of 90 units of new security patrol vehicles and other equipment will be handed over to security agencies in batches before the end of May 2025.

Mr Idowu stressed that security is a prerequisite for development, stating that no community can experience growth without guarantees of safety and security for its residents.

Responding to the donation, the Osun State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, expressed gratitude and noted that the operational vehicles will significantly enhance the police's capacity to respond to emergencies, engage in proactive surveillance, and improve overall operational efficiency.
