Adeleke Denounces Brutality in Ongoing Transport Workers' Dispute, Warns of Reinstating Former Parking Regulation Scheme

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has strongly denounced the violent clashes between rival factions of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, directing security agencies to apprehend Kazeem Oyewole, also known as Asiri Eniba, a factional leader of the union.

The violence erupted after a faction of the NURTW staged a protest on Monday against the leadership of Nurudeen Wakili, also known as Alowonle, accusing him of perpetuating political violence and creating an unsafe environment for transport operators.

Governor Adeleke, through his spokesperson Olawale Rasheed, expressed concern that the transport union's internal dispute had escalated into a threat to public peace, prompting him to consider reconsidering his administration's support for the union.

The governor warned that if the crisis persists, his administration may reintroduce the Park Management System across motor parks in the state, emphasizing the need for stability and security.

Adeleke revealed that he had personally contacted the Inspector-General of Police and other security chiefs, demanding the immediate arrest of Oyewole for his alleged role in the attacks on public order.

The governor explicitly stated, "I have personally called the attention of the Inspector-General of Police and other service chiefs to these open attacks on public peace, and I demand the immediate arrest of Asiri Eniba for this open defiance of public security laws."

Adeleke urged the Alowonle-led faction of the NURTW to restrain its members and warned that continued violence could force the government to take decisive action to maintain public order.

The governor cautioned that if Asiri Eniba's disorderly conduct continues, his administration may be forced to revert to the Park Management System across Osun motor parks, emphasizing the need for stability and security.

The governor assured residents that his administration would not tolerate any group's activities that threaten peace, safety, and economic activities in the state, reaffirming his commitment to maintaining public order.
