Adeleke debunks reports of student abductions in Osun schools

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun is calling on residents to ignore false reports of alleged school kidnappings in certain parts of the state, labeling them as baseless fabrications.

Through a statement released on Tuesday in Osogbo by his spokesperson, Malam Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke reassured citizens that his administration has implemented proactive measures to ensure the security of schools statewide.

Adeleke attributed the kidnapping rumors to malicious individuals, pointing out that fact-checking efforts in border communities and elsewhere in the state confirmed that no such incidents had taken place.

He urged the public to carry on with their daily activities without fear, emphasizing that his government has taken concrete steps to secure schools, with the Ministry of Education and relevant security agencies collaborating on a comprehensive security strategy.

The governor appealed to parents and guardians to remain calm, emphasizing that the alarm was unfounded and intended to spread panic and destabilize the state.

Adeleke also provided an update on armoured vehicles that had been abandoned by the previous administration, revealing that Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) had been fully refurbished and were ready for deployment.

According to him, his administration had inherited the damaged APCs, which had been left in a state of disrepair, but had since restored them for use in joint security operations.

Adeleke warned against engaging in acts that could incite criminal behavior, adding that local intelligence networks were actively monitoring border towns and identified hotspots to prevent potential threats.

He gave assurances that every effort would be made to guarantee the safety of schools, pupils, residents, and property, leaving no stone unturned in the process.
