ADC's leadership remains unaltered following Appeal Court verdict, says party

The African Democratic Congress, ADC, has confirmed that its national leadership remains intact following a recent Court of Appeal ruling on an internal dispute, with the appellate court opting not to rule on the actual leadership dispute.

Instead, the court directed all parties involved to maintain the status quo, effectively leaving the current leadership in place as the substantive case continues at the Federal High Court.

This clarification was provided by the ADC's National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, in response to reports surrounding an appeal filed by the party's National Chairman, David Mark, related to the ongoing leadership dispute.

The ADC statement noted that despite reports on the Court of Appeal's decision, the judgment did not address the fundamental issue of the party's leadership, which remains unresolved.

The case in question, which challenges the emergence of Senator David Mark as National Chairman and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola as National Secretary, is still pending before the Federal High Court and has yet to be heard on its merits.

The Court of Appeal's ruling did not grant any relief to the plaintiff, nor did it issue any orders that would impact the party's leadership structure.

On the contrary, the court's order to maintain the status quo means that the current state of affairs within the party will remain unchanged until the substantive suit is determined.

As a result, ADC members have been advised against panic or misinterpretation of the judgment, which is purely procedural and does not affect the legitimacy or tenure of the current national leadership.

The ruling, according to the party, does not undermine the legitimacy of the current national leadership, and the party remains united and focused despite efforts by anti-democratic forces to impose a one-party rule on Nigeria.
