ADC Congress: 'We will not permit INEC to disrupt our plans' - Nwosu

Ralph Nwosu, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has affirmed that the party will forge ahead with its scheduled congresses and national convention, undeterred by the current leadership crisis and the stance adopted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Nwosu made these remarks during an interview on Channels Television's The Morning Brief, which aired on Thursday, emphasizing that the party remains committed to its preparations for the 2027 general elections.

He stated that the party is taking necessary legal action and engaging with INEC, but will not permit the electoral body to disrupt its plans, adding that a decision was made to proceed after a recent INEC release.

The ADC has been plagued by a leadership dispute involving rival factions, prompting INEC to withdraw recognition of certain party leaders until a court case is resolved.

Nwosu, however, maintained that the party has fulfilled all legal requirements pertaining to its internal processes, having submitted its programme to INEC as required by law, with all dates endorsed by the electoral body.

He noted that the party's congresses are already underway, with the national convention slated for the 14th, where all previous actions will be validated, emphasizing the party's desire for mission-driven leaders rather than opportunists.

Nwosu added that the party will continue to inform INEC of its activities, including plans for candidate selection, and if INEC does not accept these plans, they will be published in all Nigerian media outlets.
