ACF commends northern state governors for establishing regional security trust fund

The Arewa Consultative Forum has praised the Northern States Governors’ Forum for launching the Northern Nigeria Security Trust Fund, a move that bolsters efforts to combat terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other violent crimes in the North.

This commendation was conveyed through a statement by Bashir M. Dalhatu, Chairman of the ACF's Board of Trustees, who noted that the initiative showcases the governors' understanding of the need for collective action and innovative strategies to address the region's security challenges.

The ACF views the Trust Fund as a groundbreaking regional initiative, recognizing that security is essential for economic recovery, social progress, and sustainable development in Northern Nigeria.

Historically, the North was known for its peaceful communities, thriving agriculture, and vibrant commerce, but it has been plagued by years of violence perpetrated by terrorists, bandits, kidnappers, and other armed groups, according to the ACF.

The Forum is hopeful that with effective management and sufficient funding, the Trust Fund will provide vital financial support for various security measures, including intelligence gathering, surveillance, and community-based initiatives.
