Abba receives campaign vehicles from Tompolo, urges North to back Tinubu

Gov. Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has appealed for sustained northern support frfor President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in the 2027 presidential election, so he can complete his eight-year tenure.

Yusuf made the appeal on Sunday in Kano while receiving 50 campaign vehicles donated by Tompolo to support the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement’s mobilisation activities ahead of the 2027 elections.

Yusuf said the donation demonstrated Tompolo’s commitment and solidarity to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Tinubu’s administration.

He said the vehicles would be deployed to support the party’s structures and mobilisation activities across the state.

Yusuf said the North should allow the South to complete the eight-year tenure which he described as an agreement among political stakeholders on power rotation.

According to him, former President Muhammadu Buhari served eight years before power shifted to the South with Tinubu’s election in 2023.

“President Tinubu has been serving Nigeria for the last three and a half years. Now we are coming for another election.

n

“Therefore, it is our responsibility as Nigerians to agree that the President should be re-elected for another term of office to complete the eight years that we promised that the South would stay.

n

“By 2031, the agreement will have been concluded. North, eight years gone; South, by 2031, will be eight years in government.

n

“At the end of that, power will come back to the North. And only Allah knows who will be the President then of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he explained.

The governor also called for issue-based campaigns ahead of the 2027 elections, urging politicians to focus on their programmes, achievements and plans for the people rather than character assassination.

Yusuf urged political parties and their supporters to campaign peacefully and avoid violence and other forms of criminality.

The governor thanked Tompolo for the donation, saying the gesture had also been extended to other states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory.

Earlier, Tompolo said Nigerians should not be deceived by the one term campaign promise by the opposition.

Represented by Mr Kestin Pondi, Tompolo said Nigerians should vote wisely in order to ensure continuity of the reforms and policies already started by the Tinubu administration.

Tompolo, who said there was no vacancy in Aso Rock or the Kano Government House, described President Tinubu as a courageous leader whose bold reform agenda aimed to reposition the country for sustainable growth and development.
