2027: Soludo Urges City Boy Movement to Gear Up for Tinubu's Reelection Bid

AWKA — Governor of Anambra State, Chukwuma Soludo, has urged women and youths under the City Boy Movement to intensify mobilisation efforts to ensure the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking during an interaction with women coordinators of the movement at the Light House, Awka, Soludo said women and youths remain critical drivers of national development and should actively participate in shaping the country’s political future.

Reflecting on the 2023 presidential election, the governor noted that Tinubu secured victory despite receiving limited support from the South-East, stressing the need for the region to strategically position itself ahead of the next electoral cycle.

According to him, women and youths should take ownership of the political process and contribute meaningfully to policy discussions and governance.

“You should be active participants in shaping the narratives. You should not wait for somebody to build your future for you. We are in a new age where women are recognised for who they are and not merely as support groups,” he said.

Soludo, whose daughter, Adaora Soludo, serves as the Anambra State Women Coordinator of the City Boy Movement, commended the activities of the women’s wing of the organisation and praised its members for their commitment and participation.

He advised members of the movement to view politics as a platform for advancing societal development and maximising benefits for the people, noting that his administration has deliberately created opportunities for greater involvement of women and youths in governance.

The governor said his administration’s policies were aimed at building a more inclusive society and creating a framework that would guarantee a prosperous future for coming generations.

“The future of generations yet unborn is at stake. The movement must operate with a clear understanding of its role in coordinating activities in Anambra State,” he said.

Soludo also urged the Igbo people to be more strategic in their political calculations and avoid what he described as wasting their votes in future elections.

“In politics, people do not get what they deserve; they get what they bargain for. In a democracy, the principal currency for that bargain is the vote,” he stated.

He called on members of the movement to mobilise resources, organise effectively and develop sound political strategies, assuring them of his full support.

“You have a significant role to play, and I will support your initiatives to the best of my ability,” the governor added.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Adaora Soludo said the primary objective of the City Boy Movement is to promote and support the policies and programmes of the Tinubu administration.

She said the organisation is strategically positioned to serve as a bridge between government and citizens, ensuring that the benefits of government policies are understood and felt at the grassroots level.

According to her, the movement remains committed to deepening public engagement and promoting awareness of the administration’s developmental initiatives across communities.
