2027: Senator Elisha Abbo emerges LP gov candidate in Adamawa

Senator Elisha Abbo, who represented Adamawa North Senatorial District in the 9th Senate, has emerged as the Labour Party’s governorship candidate for Adamawa State ahead of the 2027 presidential and general elections.

The emergence of Abbo as LP’s flag bearer in Adamawa State was sequel to official clearance by the national leadership of the party on Saturday after the screening exercise that was carried out and pronouncement made as the consensus candidate.

Speaking after the declaration, Senator Abbo, who reaffirmed his commitment to providing purposeful leadership, economic revitalisation, youth empowerment, and improved infrastructure across Adamawa State, however, emphasised the urgent need for inclusive governance that prioritises the welfare of citizens, job creation, education, healthcare, and security.

Political observers view his emergence as a significant development in Adamawa’s political landscape, given his established political profile and influence within the state, just as his candidacy would be expected to intensify political activities ahead of the 2027 elections as political parties and stakeholders position themselves for the contest.

According to Abbo, with the party’s ticket secured, he would now commence what he described as extensive consultations and very wide and inclusive grassroots mobilisation across the state’s 21 local government areas as he seeks to build support ahead of the governorship election.

The development, as seen, would mark another major step in the evolving political realignments ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle, as political parties continue to attract key figures seeking to shape the future direction of governance in Adamawa State.
