2027: Otti and Abaribe Among Those Selected as Labour Party Nominees in Abia State Internal Elections

Governor Alex Otti has secured the Labour Party's governorship ticket for the 2027 general election in Abia State, following the party's primary elections held statewide, with the results announced at the International Conference Centre in Umuahia.

The National Organising Secretary of the Labour Party and Returning Officer, Mrs Opara, declared the results, revealing that Otti garnered 368,230 votes in the direct primary, which was conducted in accordance with the party's constitution and the guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Otti's emergence was marked by his acceptance remarks, where he described his victory as the beginning of a renewed political responsibility, and urged all party candidates to work together towards achieving victory in the 2027 general elections.

He also commended party leaders and members for the peaceful and orderly primary process that took place across the state, acknowledging their efforts in ensuring a smooth exercise.

Meanwhile, the Labour Party also produced senatorial candidates, including Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe for Abia South, Senator Darlington Nwokocha for Abia Central, and Chief David Ogba Onuoha for Abia North.

The party also announced candidates for the House of Representatives, such as Obi Aguocha, Ginger Onwusibe, Amobi Ogah, Alex Ikwechegh, and Ibe Okwara Osonwa, among others, including Chima Desmond Anyaso, Ugochukwu Adinigwe, and Wambu Chiemela.

The National Secretary of the Labour Party, Hon. Acho Obioma, presented certificates of return to the successful candidates, congratulating them and expressing confidence in the party's chances in the 2027 elections.

Officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission, led by the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Abia State, Prof. Sylvia Agu, observed the primaries and the declaration of results, which were conducted across wards and local government areas before the final collation and announcement in Umuahia.
