2027: Obi–Kwankwaso Movement alleges plot to destabilise NDC in Enugu

The Obi–Kwankwaso (OK) Movement in Enugu State has alleged attempts to sow confusion and destabilise the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in the state, urging party members and supporters to remain united and take directives only from recognised party leadership.

In a statement issued by its Chief Press Secretary, Ani Ifeanyi Moses, the movement expressed concern over what it described as efforts to create a “non-existent faction” within the NDC through alleged impersonation, unauthorised claims of leadership and the spread of misinformation.

According to the statement, the alleged actions are aimed at creating division within the party at a time when members should be focused on preparations for the 2027 general elections.

The movement specifically accused some individuals of engaging in impersonation and attempting to destabilise the party in Enugu State.

“It is intentional to create division and confusion, knowing that Enugu is the support base of Mr. Peter Obi, and we must resist it,” the statement said.

It added that such actions undermine democratic principles and should cease immediately.

The movement urged those involved to allow the party’s internal mechanisms and legal processes to take their course while encouraging all political actors to respect constitutional democracy and the rule of law.

The OK Movement also cautioned against using young Nigerians as instruments of political conflict, stressing that personal ambitions should not be allowed to override the broader objective of building a credible political alternative ahead of 2027.

It called on NDC members and supporters of the Obi–Kwankwaso movement to remain calm, united, vigilant and resolute, while disregarding directives not issued through recognised party leadership and official communication channels.

The movement advised members to verify political information before acting on it and avoid being misled by what it described as unauthorised announcements.

Describing the emerging political realignment ahead of the 2027 elections as a “New Nigeria project,” the movement maintained that the initiative is greater than individual ambitions or political offices.

It reaffirmed its commitment to promoting democratic values, accountability and good governance while mobilising support for what it described as a competent, people-centred government in 2027.

The statement concluded with a renewed appeal for unity, warning that internal divisions could weaken the movement’s collective political aspirations ahead of the next general elections.
