2027: Obi, Atiku, and Amaechi Form Alliance to Block Tinubu's Bid, Says ADC

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced that top presidential contenders, including Peter Obi, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and former Rivers State governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, are joining forces to thwart President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general election.

This unified front is part of the party's broader strategy to challenge the APC in the next presidential race, as embodied by the newly launched 1ADC movement, which aims to unite members and supporters across various demographics and political affiliations.

The 1ADC movement marks an early attempt by opposition figures to coalesce around a single platform ahead of the 2027 contest, which is poised to become a showdown between Tinubu's APC and the ADC.

National Coordinator of the 1ADC Movement, Mrs Lauretta Onochie, and former ADC National Chairman Dr Ralphs Nwosu, were key speakers at the unveiling of the initiative, which seeks to bring together supporters of Obi, Atiku, and Amaechi under a unified banner.

According to Onochie, the 1ADC platform will facilitate collaboration among supporters of the three presidential hopefuls, enabling them to present a united front against the APC in 2027, and demonstrating that political parties can indeed put aside their differences and work together.

Onochie acknowledged that disagreements are inevitable in political movements, but emphasized that the party's collective objective must take precedence over individual interests, and pledged that the party would unite after primaries and work towards healing internal divisions.

The 1ADC movement is also intended to reduce friction and divisions among party leaders and aspirants, while mobilizing Nigerians ahead of the 2027 general election, by reaching out to the grassroots, the poor, and the young, and positioning the party as a inclusive and unified force.

Former ADC National Chairman Dr Ralphs Nwosu described the party's adoption as a coalition platform as an opportunity for Nigerians to reclaim their country, and urged citizens to take action to prevent the country from sliding into deeper crisis after the 2027 elections.

Nwosu praised the leadership of the ADC, particularly Senator David Mark, whom he described as a "military tactician" who would not be intimidated by any political force, and noted that the party's digital membership registration drive has generated significant interest across the country.

According to Nwosu, the ADC has transformed from a politicians' party to a citizens' party, fostering harmony in the political system, and boasted that millions of Nigerian voters have already signed up for the party's digital membership registration within a few months of its launch.
