2027: Notable Figures Such as Sam Egwu and Galadima Named to NDC Vetting Panel

The Nigeria Democratic Congress has established a 17-member screening committee, with Senator Sam Egwu, the former governor of Ebonyi State, at its helm, to review presidential, governorship, and National Assembly aspirants.

The committee's secretary will be Barrister Reuben Egwuaba, the NDC National Legal Adviser, as announced by the NDC National Secretary, Barr. Ikenna Enekweizu, in a statement on Tuesday.

Comrade Babatunde Ali will serve as the deputy chairman of the committee, which also includes Alhaji Buba Galadima and Hon. Mohammed Sani Takori as members, bringing a wealth of experience to the table.

Other notable members of the committee are Mr. Daniel Onifade, Mr. Ikeddy Isiguzo, Mr. Wole Adedayo, and Dr. Osusu Osusu, who will work together to evaluate the aspirants.

Chief Asukewe Ikoawaji, Prof. Udenta Udenta, and Barr. Frederick Owotorufa are also part of the committee, which is set to be inaugurated on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 4:00pm.

Hannatu Tanko, Mr. Dogo Shammar, Sir Henry Obaze, Mr. Clement Agiagie, and Barr. Fatima Musa Abba complete the 17-member committee, which is tasked with screening the party's aspirants.

The NDC National Secretary, Barr. Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu, confirmed that Senator Sam Egwu, a former two-term governor of Ebonyi State, will lead the committee as its chairman.

The committee's diverse membership includes party leaders, professionals, and members of the NDC National Working Committee, ensuring a thorough evaluation of the aspirants.
