2027: Natasha Urges PDP Leaders to Put Differences Aside

Spearheaded by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party representing Kogi Central, an appeal has been made to the party's leaders and stakeholders to adopt a path of reconciliation and look beyond ongoing legal disputes for the greater good of the nation.

This call to action comes on the heels of a recent Appeal Court ruling regarding the party's national convention, prompting Akpoti-Uduaghan to issue a personally signed statement on Tuesday.

In her statement, Akpoti-Uduaghan urged party members nationwide to view the Appeal Court judgement as a chance to reunite, bolster internal democracy, and reestablish the PDP as a robust force in the lead-up to 2027.

Akpoti-Uduaghan underscored the importance of shifting the party's focus away from litigation and towards reconciliation and rebuilding, emphasizing that the Court of Appeal's decision must be respected as the PDP is a party that upholds the rule of law.

She warned that internal party conflicts should not hinder the ambitions and aspirations of members preparing for upcoming elections, stressing that the party's future and the hopes of its members must take precedence.

Akpoti-Uduaghan further emphasized that the party's grassroots members must not suffer as a result of prolonged disagreements among leaders, stating that the members' aspirations and the party's future must remain the top priority.

The federal legislator also called upon party leaders to demonstrate a willingness to compromise and exhibit statesmanship, noting that the current situation demands a collective commitment to the PDP's progress and survival, as well as maturity and open dialogue.

Akpoti-Uduaghan urged stakeholders to work towards organizing an inclusive and credible national convention that adheres to the guidelines set by the Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC.

She reminded party members that the nation is watching, and it is imperative that the PDP demonstrates its ability to lead the country forward, as stated by the lawmaker.
