2027: Momodu Endorses Atiku-Obi Presidential Bid, Claims APC is in a State of Evident Distress

Dele Momodu, the Publisher of Ovation Magazine and a prominent opposition party figure, has voiced his backing for a potential presidential ticket featuring Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) banner for the 2027 general elections.

Momodu made these comments during his appearance on Channels Television's Politics Today on Tuesday, where he evaluated the shifting political landscape and the growing alignment of opposition forces.

He suggested pairing Atiku Abubakar with Peter Obi, citing their previous collaboration in 2019 and the ease of maintaining support from Obi's existing followers, given his third-place finish in the last election.

Momodu also took the opportunity to criticize the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), claiming the party is under pressure despite President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's efforts to consolidate support among key stakeholders.

According to Momodu, the APC is attempting to undermine the opposition by creating divisions, saying "they cannot believe that we will have maybe four or five major opposition leaders in the country, and some people will go and put fire in their houses so that none of them will be strong enough to stand against the leader."

Momodu further stated that the APC's situation is a reality that cannot be hidden, noting that despite gathering support from governors, ministers, and lawmakers, the party's panic is evident.

He accused the APC of suppressing internal dissent, suggesting that party members are hesitant to speak out against the leadership, with many feeling like "slaves" who dare not express their grievances openly.

Momodu expressed sympathy for his friends within the APC, wishing them well while emphasizing the need to "rescue" Nigeria from its current state.

Additionally, Momodu alleged that the APC is interfering with political processes, attempting to frustrate opposition activities by "blocking venues for conventions, blocking courts," which he described as "insane."

Despite these concerns, Momodu believes that such actions are inadvertently increasing the ADC's visibility and appeal among Nigerians ahead of the 2027 elections.

He dismissed fears of internal divisions within the ADC, insisting that the party remains united as it brings together prominent political figures in preparation for the 2027 elections.
