2027: Kefas Selects Female APC Chairman as Vice Presidential Candidate

JALINGO — Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, has indicated that the Deputy National Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Zainab Ibrahim, may be his running mate in the 2027 governorship election.

Kefas made the disclosure on Friday at the TY Danjuma House in Jalingo while hosting the National Chairman of the APC, Prof Nentawe Yilwatda.

Yilwatda was in the state to celebrate his 58th birthday.

While recognising dignitaries during the protocol session, Governor Kefas referred to Ibrahim as the “future deputy governor of Taraba State”, a description also used by the APC national chairman, who addressed her as the “incoming deputy governor”.

In his remarks, Kefas expressed appreciation to the APC leadership for organising a state-wide medical outreach as part of activities marking Yilwatda’s birthday.

According to him, “Your team of doctors for the free treatment and surgeries has been on the ground working for days, and the testimonies from the people of Taraba State are deeply impressive.

“For us in Taraba State, we are all for the APC to pay back what Mr President has done for us.

n

“What President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has done for the people of Taraba cannot be quantified.

n

“Mr President recently approved an Army division for us, which alone is capable of stabilising the state. Mr Chairman, here in Taraba, we in the APC are not contesting elections with anybody. We only have people participating with us.”

Speaking earlier, Yilwatda explained that he chose Taraba State for his 58th birthday celebration to demonstrate the party’s commitment to the welfare of citizens.

According to him, “APC does not only canvass for votes but also show the human face of our party.

n

“We do not only knock on doors for votes, but we care for the people’s health, education and future.”

He also commended Governor Kefas for aligning with the ruling party, noting that President Tinubu prioritises inclusive development irrespective of past electoral outcomes.
