2027: Kebbi PDP rejects rumour of supporting APC

BIRNIN KEBBI — The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Kebbi State has dismissed reports that it has endorsed the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Kebbi State PDP Chairman, Usman Bello Suru, in a statement on Sunday, said the party remained united and had not endorsed any political party or candidate outside the PDP for the forthcoming elections.

Suru said the party would field candidates for all elective positions in the 2027 elections, describing reports of an endorsement of the APC as untrue and not reflective of the position of the PDP in the state.

He said: “We do not have any division. We are one united party and we do not support any party and/or candidate other than the PDP.”

The chairman urged members, elders and stakeholders of the party to remain calm and law-abiding, while maintaining the ideals of the opposition party in the state.

The statement followed reports of a meeting involving former Minister, Buhari Bala, and retired General Ishaya Bamayi, where an alleged endorsement of the APC ahead of the 2027 elections in Kebbi State was said to have taken place.

The PDP chairman, however, said the party had not taken any decision to support another political party ahead of the elections.
