2027: Gwamna’s candidacy offers path to greater development for Gombe — Spokesman

The spokesperson for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Gombe State, Dr. Jamil Isyaku Gwamna, Ibrahim Sani Shawai, has described the 2027 governorship election as a defining moment for the state, urging residents to consider competence, vision and commitment to public service in choosing the next governor.

In a statement issued on Wednesday in Gombe, Shawai said the election should be seen as an opportunity for citizens to determine the future direction of the state.

According to him, Gombe needs a leader capable of consolidating the achievements of the current administration while addressing emerging challenges and promoting sustainable economic growth.

He said leadership should be evaluated on the basis of character, competence, capacity and dedication to public service rather than political sentiments.

Shawai stated that the demands of governance require a leader with sound economic knowledge, a commitment to education, an appreciation of innovation and the ability to unite people across political and social divides.

He said Dr. Gwamna possesses those qualities, citing his experience in the private sector, investments in education and healthcare, support for youth development and commitment to creating opportunities for residents.

According to him, Dr. Gwamna has consistently said that human capital development would be a priority of his administration if elected governor.

He said that while infrastructure remains important, sustainable development also depends on investment in education, healthcare, skills acquisition, entrepreneurship and youth empowerment.

“Roads, bridges and public buildings are important, but the true measure of development lies in the quality of citizens a government produces through education, healthcare and economic opportunities,” the statement said.

Shawai added that Dr. Gwamna intends to sustain policies he considers beneficial while introducing new initiatives aimed at expanding the state’s economic potential.

He also commended the administration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for its achievements in infrastructure, agriculture, healthcare and public sector reforms, expressing the view that future administrations should build on those gains.

The spokesman further expressed confidence that Dr. Gwamna would be able to attract investment, build strategic partnerships and promote an enabling environment for businesses, farmers, entrepreneurs and young people.

He urged voters to consider the long-term future of the state in the 2027 governorship election, describing it as an opportunity to strengthen inclusive governance and accelerate development.
