2027: Fuoye Announces Bid to Claim Burutu Seat in Federal Legislature

High Chief Thompson Robert Fuoye, a renowned philanthropist and Petroleum Economics expert from the Niger Delta, has officially announced his candidacy for the Burutu Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives for the upcoming 2027 general elections.

This declaration was made to the Burutu Local Government Council Executives of the All Progressives Congress, APC, over the weekend, with High Chief Fuoye citing the need to serve his constituents and draw federal attention to the neglected oil-rich riverine communities as his primary motivation.

As a native of Tuomo Ward 3, High Chief Fuoye expressed his desire to represent his people in the Green Chambers and address the issues of neglect and lack of federal presence in Burutu Federal Constituency.

He emphasized that his multilingual skills would enable him to effectively communicate with his fellow House members and advocate for the needs of his constituents, ultimately influencing the necessary federal presence in the constituency.

High Chief Fuoye stated, "I am here to formally announce my intention to contest for the seat of Burutu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives for the forthcoming 2027 general elections, and I'm officially in the race."

He highlighted his unique background as an Ijaw born in the northern part of Nigeria and schooled in the Southwest, which he believes will facilitate his communication with colleagues in the House and enable him to secure the necessary federal attention for his constituency.

High Chief Fuoye's vision for the people of Burutu Federal Constituency is dubbed "Fresh Breath," and he has pledged not to disappoint the mandate if given the opportunity to serve, with plans to engage the youth in meaningful endeavors through the establishment of local factories.

He also took the opportunity to congratulate the party executives on their emergence at the recent party primaries, demonstrating his commitment to the party's processes.

The chairman of the APC in Burutu Local Government Area, Moni Seikemiegha, thanked High Chief Fuoye for following the due process and assured him that the party executives will provide a level playing ground for all aspirants.

Moni Seikemiegha stressed that the party executives will remain neutral until a candidate has emerged to fly the party's flag, urging all party faithful to respect the party structure for the progress and success of the party at the grassroots.

The event was marked by an outpouring of support and solidarity chants from High Chief Fuoye's supporters, who overwhelmingly backed his candidacy.
