2027: Full Support - Nnamani, Nwobodo, and Awkunanaw Clan Unite Behind Mbah

The people of Awkunanaw clan, spanning several communities in Enugu South and Nkanu West Local Government Areas of Enugu State, have thrown their weight behind the state's governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, for a second term in office come 2027.

The endorsement was made at a mega rally held at the Civic Centre, Akpasha, where the people presented Mbah with an Ofo, a symbol of authority and justice, in recognition of his achievements in less than three years.

Elder statesman and former President of the Senate, Senator Ken Nnamani, noted that Mbah had become a model for subnational governance in Nigeria, earning public acclaim throughout the country for his good works in Enugu.

Nnamani emphasized that the people of Awkunanaw are solidly behind Mbah to complete his second term, and warned that nobody in Nkanu land should attempt to undermine his remaining four years in office.

He also cautioned that any issues with Mbah would be settled "indoors as brothers," and that the people of Awkunanaw do not engage in unjust fights, but rather in ones they can win and be proud of.

Nnamani highlighted that Mbah has achieved in barely three years what other governors could not do in eight years, which is why the people trooped out en masse to show him explicit support.

Reinforcing Nnamani's remarks, former governor of old Anambra State, Senator Jim Nwobodo, stated that Mbah remains the best hands for Enugu State come 2027, and that the presentation of the Ofo staff to him signifies the clan's unwavering support.

Nwobodo, represented by the Enugu State Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Deacon Okey Ogbodo, declared that the Ofo is not something that can be given to two individuals at the same time, implying that Mbah is the endorsed governorship candidate for 2027.

Secretary to Enugu State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, commended Mbah's revolutionary transportation strides across all sectors, setting Enugu as a benchmark for good governance.

The traditional rulers of the Awkunanaw clan, led by HRH Igwe Obi Igwesi, presented an Ofo to Mbah, invoking their ancestors to declare that any clan member who opposes Mbah's reelection would face their wrath.

Speaking at the event, Governor Mbah fired back at the opposition, stating that nobody can diminish the achievements recorded by his administration in less than three years, which include the establishment of Smart Schools and Type-2 Hospitals in all political wards.

Mbah highlighted the transformation of skeletal shells and moribund assets, such as the International Conference Centre, Hotel Presidential, Nigergas, and the Enugu United Palm Products Limited, into thriving entities.

He also warned the people of Awkunanaw and Nkanuland against selfish politicians who sow seeds of discord in desperate bids for power, urging them to come together to resist forces of falsehood and division.

Mbah questioned how someone can claim to love Nkanu people yet act in ways that hurt their interests, implying that such individuals are driven by selfish motives.

Other Awkunanaw leaders present at the event included Hon. U.S.A Igwesi, Amb. Gordi Agbo, Hon. Offor Chukwuegbo, and Hon. Chimaobi Atu, among others.

Dignitaries such as Prof. Oguejiofo Ujam, Hon. Ken Nyamah, and Dr. Ben Nwoye were also in attendance, along with a host of traditional rulers and Council Chairmen, including host Council Chairman, Hon. John Ogbodo.
