2027: Dickson invites dissatisfied politicians to join NDC, urges grassroots mobilisation

ABUJA — Ahead of the 2027 presidential and general elections, Senator Seriake Dickson, national leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has called on politicians who feel dissatisfied, sidelined, or constrained in their current parties to join the NDC, promising stability and a platform grounded in clarity, inclusiveness, and purpose.

Speaking on Wednesday at the party’s inaugural National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja, Dickson encouraged individuals “stranded” in their current political affiliations to consider the NDC as an avenue for meaningful participation and a fresh direction in national politics.

“To those who feel dissatisfied, sidelined, or constrained in their current parties, this is an opportunity to be part of something new and inclusive. For those uncertain about leadership or direction, we offer clarity, stability, and purpose. This is your party,” he said.

Dickson also charged party members to intensify grassroots mobilisation and leverage the party’s electronic registration platform to strengthen its support base ahead of the elections. He emphasised that electoral success depends on genuine engagement with voters at the polling unit, ward, and community levels, rather than financial inducements.

Highlighting the party’s commitment to inclusiveness, Dickson announced resolutions for affirmative action for women and the inclusion of youths in party structures. He directed state chairmen to harmonise their structures to ensure meaningful participation of these groups.

On membership registration, Dickson revealed that many Nigerians were already signing up electronically and challenged states to register a minimum of 300 to 500 verifiable members per ward. He cautioned against inflated figures, stressing that the party prioritises genuine supporters who believe in its vision.

Senator Moses Zuwogeh, NDC National Chairman, reaffirmed his commitment to transparent, accountable leadership and the founding principles of the party. He urged members to demonstrate discipline, loyalty, and collective effort as the party consolidates its national structures and prepares for upcoming elections.

The NDC leadership reiterated its goal of building a credible political alternative capable of addressing national challenges and restoring public confidence in governance.
