2027: APC Sets Presidential Nomination Fee at N100m, Schedules Primary Election for May 15

The All Progressives Congress, APC, has unveiled its timetable and schedule of activities for the 2027 general elections, with the cost of obtaining its presidential nomination form set at N100 million and the governorship form at N50 million.

The timetable was issued in accordance with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended, the Electoral Act 2026, and INEC’s Revised Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the 2027 General Elections, as signed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, and announced by National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka on Monday night in Abuja.

Presidential aspirants will be required to pay N30 million as an expression of interest and N70 million as a nomination fee, totalling N100 million, while governorship aspirants will face a combined bill of N50 million, comprising N10 million for expression of interest and N40 million for nomination.

Senate hopefuls will pay a total of N20 million, broken down into N3 million and N17 million respectively, and House of Representatives aspirants will spend N10 million in all, to pursue their ambitions.

Candidates seeking State House of Assembly seats will pay N6 million, made up of N1 million for expression of interest and N5 million for nomination, as they strive to secure their places.

The party has offered some relief to female aspirants, youths, and physically challenged aspirants, who will only be required to pay the expression of interest fee and 50 percent of the prescribed nomination fees for each position.

The APC has notified its state chapters of the elections, effective Monday, April 20, 2026, and the sale of forms at the National Secretariat will run from Saturday, April 25 to Saturday, May 2, 2026.

The last day for submission of completed forms and accompanying documents is Monday, May 4, 2026, after which the screening of aspirants for various positions will commence.

Screening of aspirants for State House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, and Governorship positions is scheduled for Wednesday, May 6 to Friday, May 8, 2026, while presidential aspirants will be screened on Saturday, May 9.

Screening results for all categories will be published on Monday, May 11, and screening appeals will run from Tuesday, May 12 to Wednesday, May 13, 2026, allowing for any disputes to be addressed.

Primary elections are scheduled to commence with the presidential primary on Friday, May 15 to Saturday, May 16, 2026, followed by the House of Representatives on Monday, May 18, and the Senate on Wednesday, May 20.

The State House of Assembly primary will take place on Thursday, May 21, and the governorship primary on Saturday, May 23, 2026, with election appeals following immediately after each primary.

The governorship appeal is scheduled for Monday, May 25, as the party ensures that all aspects of the election process are thoroughly addressed.
