The National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Bolaji Abdullahi, has declared that the party will not merge with or join any other political party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Abdullahi, however, said the ADC remains open to individuals and political groups willing to join its fold.

Speaking in Ilorin on Thursday while hosting party leaders and members to celebrate the just-concluded Eid-el-Adha festivities, he said, “ADC will not join any political party, but interested parties are free to join us. Our doors are open.”

The ADC spokesman urged Nigerians to support the opposition party in its bid to unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), which he accused of inflicting hardship on citizens.

According to him, the country has witnessed worsening insecurity, economic hardship and poor governance under the APC-led administration, adding that Nigerians should reject the ruling party in the 2027 elections.

“It is disheartening that we are experiencing a high rate of insecurity in the country as we cannot live peacefully again,” he said.

Abdullahi also expressed concern over the increasing cases of kidnapping across the country, describing the situation as a major source of anxiety for many Nigerians.

He lamented the prevailing economic difficulties and rising poverty, insisting that the ADC offers a credible alternative capable of addressing the nation’s challenges.

Calling on party members to prepare for the task ahead, he stressed the need for massive mobilisation to secure electoral victories for the ADC in 2027.

He noted that all party candidates would be required to adhere strictly to the ADC manifesto, saying such commitment would ensure the delivery of quality leadership and good governance if elected.

Abdullahi further assured party faithful that the ADC leadership would provide the necessary support to candidates during campaigns and elections to enhance their chances of success.

Expressing confidence in the party’s prospects, he said the ADC would form governments in Kwara State and at the federal level after the 2027 elections.

“We have qualified and experienced candidates. We don’t have candidates that have been to EFCC before,” he stated.

He, however, emphasized that achieving political change would require the active support of Nigerians, noting that good governance cannot be attained without the collective participation of the electorate.

According to him, meaningful leadership change and national development depend on citizens rallying behind credible alternatives and participating fully in the democratic process.
