2026 UTME: JAMB Suspends Release of Results, Establishes 320 Minimum Threshold for Applicants Under Age

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has shed light on the puzzling "No Result Yet" notifications received by candidates, explaining that results of underage candidates are being intentionally held back in accordance with existing rules, as disclosed by JAMB's spokesman, Fabian Benjamin.

This development comes on the heels of a significant increase in enquiries from concerned parents, prompting Benjamin to clarify that candidates who have not met the approved age threshold will not have their results released at this time, resulting in the automated "No Result Yet" response.

According to Benjamin, only candidates who will have reached the age of 16 by September 30, 2026, are eligible to take the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations, UTME, emphasizing that any exceptions to this rule fall under the board's policy for exceptional candidates.

Under this policy, underage candidates must exhibit exceptional academic prowess by achieving a minimum score of 320 in the UTME and securing at least 80 per cent in subsequent screening processes to be considered for admission.

Benjamin also revealed that, in line with prior agreements with parents, only candidates who meet the 320 benchmark will be shortlisted and invited for further evaluations, effectively limiting the opportunities for exceptional consideration.

He emphasized that the results of underage candidates will remain unreleased until this process is completed, urging stakeholders to exercise patience as the board upholds standards aimed at maintaining the integrity of the nation's admission system.
