Kwankwaso

The New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, has accused its former presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, of continuing to interfere in the affairs of the party despite publicly identifying with other political platforms.
The allegation was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday in Lagos by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Ogini Olaposi.
According to the NNPP, Kwankwaso has continued to wield influence within the party through loyalists allegedly left behind after his exit.
The party said: “Kwankwaso is not only trying to hijack political power in NDC Kano, he has continued to drag the NNPP for reasons best known to him.
“Some members of the Kwankwasiyya Movement are the ones he left behind to continue the litigation that Kwankwaso initiated.”
The NNPP further claimed that Kwankwaso’s political influence in Kano had diminished significantly, alleging that many of his key allies had defected to the APC.
“NDC should be smart and intelligent enough to understand that Kwankwaso’s structure was in the past organic in Kano State, but at the moment all his commanding officers have joined the APC,” the statement added.
The party also accused Kwankwaso and elder statesman Buba Galadima of betraying the trust of the party’s founding members and attempting to regain control of the NNPP.
“Kwankwaso and Galadima betrayed the trust of the founding members of the NNPP and have not stopped manipulations to still hijack the party,” it said.
Warning the NDC against repeating what it described as the NNPP’s experience, the party said allowing Kwankwaso excessive influence would amount to “political suicide.”
The NNPP maintained that both Kwankwaso and Galadima, whom it described as expelled members, would not be readmitted into the party, while also urging the Chairman of INEC to respect court orders to safeguard preparations for the 2027 general elections.
